Police donates desk to rural school  

Community policing and public relations are very essential aspects ofeffective policing in this challenging society says Assistant PoliceCommissioner Sylvester Kalaut.


ACP Kalaut who is Commander of Police in the National Capital Districtand Central Provinces made this remarks when donating 50 desks and 50 chairs tothe Duramu elementary school in the Abau district of the Central Province.

Duramu elementary is a remote schools in the Central Province that hasbeing providing basic education without proper facilities.


Mr Kalaut said after visiting the school he noticed the challenges facedby the children and decide to help them with the desks and chairs as part ofthe community policing.


Head Teacher Rupa Abi said it was a first of its kind for the communityto receive donation for the police.


ā€œIā€™m very pleased to receive the donation for the police on behalf ofthe Duramu Elementary school and the community. This will indeed need havegreat impact on the community and the school,ā€ Abi said.


The desk and chairs have been previously use by the Southern DivisionTraining Centre at the Gordon. However, Mr Kalaut said the training centre havebeen moved to Hohola to cater for the temporarily relocation of Central Policeheadquarters in town to Gordons.
