Policewoman Arrested for Perverting Justice in Aiye Tambua Sexual Assault Case

A policewoman attached to Sexual Offence Squad Criminal Investigation Units was arrested and charged for perverting the course of justice.
Acting NCD Metropolitian Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang confirmed that Policewoman First Constable Adriana Kamusunga was arrested and charged by the Internal Investigation Unit on Monday based on the evidence that she provided to court to dismiss Tambua’s case while the case was on foot in court.
He said the policewoman was arrested and charged and was detained in the cell but later released on police bail of K1000.

He said that according to police brief, it was alleged that on July 09 2024, the policewoman did an affidavit stating that there was insufficient evidence and the entire investigation was done wrong He said her affidavit was presented to court, and the case was struck out.

Supt Rubiang said the case was still in for deliberation when the statement was given that resulted in the dismissal of the case against the MP.
Rubiang thanked the investigators who successfully did investigation and arrested the policewoman. He said she would appear in court when her files were ready.

“I want to warn officers who do such to spoil the name of the constabulary to refrain from doing it. Let the court clear defendants if they are arrested and charged. When we are given a case to investigate, we must do it without fear or favour to make sure the victim and the complaint are satisfied. We are not the courts, but we are the law enforcement officers. I want to thank the IIU officers and the team of CID investigators who led the investigation. I hope to see the case to its full completion.

Rubiang said the policewoman is now released on K1000 police bail.
