A total of 226 Probationary Constables who recently passed out of the National Centre of Excellence at Bomana will be deployed throughout the country commencing this Friday 13th of June 2025.
Acting Assistant Commissioner in charge of the Constabulary’s Human Resources Division, Gaiwary Tinga said the respective Provincial Police Commanders have now secured the interim accommodation for these recent pass-outs.
Mr Tinga said to save costs, the Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) were instructed to identify police-owned houses, or alternatively, seek assistance from the provincial governments to fund rental accommodation for these new pass outs.
He said the PPCs are also mindful of the fact that these probationary constables are still under the radar of the Bomana Centre of Excellence, at least for the next 18 months when they undergo their Competency Acquisition Program (CAP).
In essence, the graduands have completed their six months of recruit training at Bomana, but they will now work through their 18-month internship period in front line policing to complete their CAP before they are upgraded and accorded the status of a fully-fledged constables.
Acting ACP Tinga said the Regional Training Officers (RTO) and Provincial Training Officers (PTO) aligned to the Bomana Centre of Excellence will assess their performances throughout the 18-month CAP period and upgrade them accordingly.
ACP Tinga said the bulk of them, totaling 78, were posted to the Highlands region with Hela set to receive 30 and Enga to receive 20 of these pass outs.
Mr Tinga said Southern Highlands Province will receive ten, Chimbu will also receive ten and Western Highlands Province will receive eight, respectively.
“The 31 of these graduands will be deployed in Border Command where East Sepik province is poised to receive ten, West Sepik five, and Western Province, which has a vast geographical land boundary constituting two separate police jurisdictions in North and South Fly will receive a total of 16 police graduands.
“The Constabulary’s Northern Command will receive a total of 27 pass outs,” according to acting ACP Tinga.
He said this equates to nine personnel for Morobe, nine for Madang and nine for Eastern Highlands Provinces.
The New Guinea Island Command will receive a total of 50 pass outs, equating to 10 personnel each for Manus, Kavieng, East New Britain, West New Britain, and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
Mr Tinga said the pass outs have also signed a pledge of loyalty endorsed by the Commissioner of Police requiring them to uphold the values of ethics and discipline throughout their CAP period and onwards.
He said they must remember the promise they have made with the Commissioner, and they must serve with pride, dignity, dedication, and honesty.
