A vehicle that police officers from Badili Police Station had been using was stoned at Talai/Gorobe Settlement while trying to stop a fight that occurred last night (Saturday, November 29, 2025) at the settlement.
According to the police, the fight started, and innocent vehicles and people were attacked when police were called in to stop the fight. They were stoned by an unknown person among the group.
National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab confirmed that within this week, two police vehicles had been stoned, which shows that the public has no respect for the police. He said one was stoned at Manu during the week, while the other one was stoned yesterday.
“Police are not your enemies; they are law enforcement officers who respond when you need help. The actions of those involved are uncalled for, and they must face the consequences because the vehicle helps serve the city residents. NCD Taskforce Commander Inspector Jack Wesil, along with Badili Police Station Commander Chief Sergeant Abel Mon, visited Talai Gorobe Settlement and Manu to raise awareness for the community to identify the suspects and hand them over to the police as soon as possible,” Metsupt Simatab said.
He stated that this afternoon, Inspector Wesil, Chief Sergeant Mon, and police officers from the Taskforce and Badili Units, along with other units, conducted awareness at Talai, advising the community leaders to identify the suspects involved in the stoning of the police vehicle and bring them to the police station.
Metsupt Simatab also added that most of the fights that happened during the weekend were alcohol-related, and the police are responding to incidents, one of which was the Talai/Gorobe Settlement incident. He said that since the NCDC Liquor Licensing Board is the authority responsible for anything related to the sale of alcohol, he will have to discuss with them how best they can address this issue.
He mentioned that the city population is increasing daily, which is now a challenge for the police to manage all the people who are now in the city. He emphasized that the public must respect police vehicles because they are there to help respond to anyone in need of police assistance.
End.
