Police Internal Affairs Division plays a critical role in ensuring that principles of justice, and fairness are maintained not only within our rights, but also in our service to the public, says Assistant Commissioner of Internal Affairs Division, Emil Alpha.

“Today we come together, united for our shared commitment to uphold the highest standard of integrity, professionalism, accountability within our law enforcement community.

“Our division plays a critical role in ensuring that principles of justice, fairness are maintained not only within our rights, but also in our service to the public.

“As members of the Internal Affairs Division, we are entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the trust that the community places in us. This duty requires immense courage, diligence and unwavering commitment to our values.

“It is our mission to investigate the allegations of misconduct, promote ethical practices, and ensure that our officers are held to the standards.

“We say our work is challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Each day we could make a positive impact, to foster transparency and to enhance the creativity of constabulary that supported Police Commissioner David Manning and his Executive Management team,” ACP Alpha said.

ACP Alpha said that together they would continue to strengthen their resource, support one another, and uphold the principles that guide their work.

Mr Alpha also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of each member of the Division. He said that the job of the Internal Affairs Division was not just like another policing job out there, but they are policing their own kind in the Constabulary.

ACP said their work out there is very challenging and in fact, they go through life threatening situations sometimes, but this is the time to tell them the challenges they faced which will be conveyed to the Constabulary’s Executive Management when they go through their Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis.

Mr Alpha said it is the time for the members to collaborate whilst dealing with police misconducts as it is important, where they work hand-in-hand because working alone could be more challenging and may also put more pressures on themselves.

ACP Alpha also thanked all the discipline officers of the force to manage police discipline for the good of the organisation as well as the community they serve.
