Public Safety officers in Simbu province are undergoing two-week general duty refresher course training

TWENTY-TWO police officers from the Public Safety Section in Simbu province are currently undergoing two weeks General Duty Refresher course training to strengthening operational capabilities, discipline, and service delivery across all ranks – particularly among the Constables All Class.

This is a mandatory course for the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary that has never been conducted for over four decades, but it was recently reviewed and will now be rolled out throughout the regions and provinces.

The training is currently undergoing at the Provincial Training Cell at the Kundiawa Police Headquarters which commenced on Monday 01st June and will end on Friday 12th June 2026. The training is for the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) Public Safety Training formally known as the General Duty Refresher Training.

SIMBU Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Detective Superintendent, Mazuc Rubiang said the training was not only a refresher, but it was a critical investment in capacity building.

PPC Rubiang said this reinforces core policing principles, sharpens operational skills, and ensures their officers remain aligned with current policing practices and community expectations within the province.

“This training will benefit the members in the province by enhancing the knowledge, skills and the ability to respond effectively, ethically and confidently in doing their policing duties.

“After this training we expect our members to apply the knowledge and the skills gained through this training with professionalism when delivering policing services to the members of the public across provinces, regions and the country,” PPC Rubiang said.

PPC said they intended to continue with the training until all their frontline public safety officers undergo the training, but this would depend on the funding.
