A driver of the highway Patrol Unit (H4) vehicle who allegedly misused and ran into the ditch on Sunday 10th May 2025 at Orange Market along Okuk highway in Jiwaka province would be dealt with as soon as the investigation team carry out police investigation.
Jiwaka Provincial Police Commander (PPC), acting Superintendent, Laimo Asi said the driver of the vehicle would be seriously dealt with and further recommendation would also be made for termination.
PPC Asi confirmed that the vehicle had damage to the left side. He said the matter was referred to the highway patrol (H3) in MT Hagen to conduct police investigation to establish the cause of the incident.
He said the driver also had an outstanding case on foot for the serious assault caused on the medical officer and he would be dealt in same manner.
PPC Asi has also warned the police officers in his command to stop misusing the limited police resources they have in the command and rather use it wisely for its intended purposes. He said no one is above the law including police officers.
