A POLICE VEHICLE LEFT ROADWAY & COLLIDED WITH A RESIDENTIAL HOUSE BUT FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED

Enga Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent, Steven Harris confirmed that a police vehicle was involved in a road traffic incident in which the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a residential house.

PPC Harris said that fortunately, the occupants of the house were not injured, and they are safe. He said the incident occurred this morning at Teremanda village in Wabag, Enga province.

PPC Harris said that the matter is currently under police investigation, and the circumstances surrounding the incident will be fully examined. He said the investigation will be conducted with oversight from the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary’s (RPNGC) Internal Investigations Unit.

PPC Harris stated that when he said the rule of law would prevail in Enga Province, he meant that it applies to everyone, including the police officers.

He said police officers are not above the law, and any wrongdoing will be dealt with according to the law and the disciplinary processes.

PPC Harris thanked the members of the community for their cooperation and for agreeing to release the police vehicle back to police. The police vehicles are critical resources used to respond to incidents, prevent crime, and keep the entire community safe.

PPC Harris said that further information will be released when the investigation is progressed.
