ARMED MEN SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS BY BOROKO DISTRICT COURT

A 30-year-old man from Kufar Village, East Yangoru LLG in East Sepik was sentenced to four years of hard labor by the Boroko District Court today. Eduarate Hecko, who was charged with armed robbery along with his four friends, will now serve four years of hard labor at the Bomana prison.

Boroko District Court Magistrate Samson Takali, while sentencing Hecko and another 27-year-old man from Eurupu village of Kundia Gembogl District, told them that they must change when they finish their time in prison. The 27-year-old man, identified as Junior Robert, was also involved in the armed robbery at the Phone House inside Harbour City, where former NCD/Central Commander Junior Wagambie was held up while inside the shop.

According to the police brief, it was reported that on Thursday, 21st November 2024, between 1:45 and 2:00 PM, the two convicts were with two others who were in the process of robbing the Central Foundation Mini Supermarket when the police arrived and disturbed them. The four were rounded up by the police, who were on foot going after them when they esczped and successfully apprehended them. They were taken to Badili Police Station.

At Badili Police Station, the four were questioned about the robbery and admitted to committing it. They were all armed during the robbery and were about to rob the supermarket, but the police intervened and disturbed them.

They were formally charged with armed robbery by Badili Minor Crimes. According to police officers, two of the suspects escaped from Boroko Metropolitian Cell and are still on the run. The investigators stated that the two are 23-year-old Jeremy Herry from Kulip Village in the Liagam District of Enga Province and 21-year-old Junior Michael of Saora Village in the Rigo District of Central Province.

The Officer in Charge of the case, Detective Senior Constable Kerry Kaman, stated they have a warrant of arrest of the two who escaped from the cell. He said if the public knows where these two are, they can contact the police hotline number at 1800100 or inbox the NCD/Central Command Facebook Page. He mentioned that the two had been involved in a series of crimes in the city and are dangerous to the community. He said the photos of the two will be published on the Facebook page for the public to assist in locating them.
