Prime Minister James Marape had warned people who left their provinces because of tribal fights to return back home or behave while living in Port Moresby because of the way they are behaving in the city.
While commenting Moresby North East Member of Parliament John Kaupa for the initiative to build the new police station at Nine Mile he also strongly warned people who escaped from tribal fights and are coming into the city causing more problems that had painted a bad image to him and the country as a whole need to return back to their respective provinces.
He said with the new bill that had been passed in Parliament on week will now help the police to punish people who do not abide by the law of this country. PM Marape said the Counter Terrorism Bill that was passed will now help police to come hard on those who break the law.
During the Speech he also challenged the Engans, the Taris and those who moved to the city must behave like the original land owners of NCD and those who had been living in the city in the past where Port Moresby was very peaceful.
PM Marape said the Motu-Koita, the Koiari`s and those who lived in the city in the past consume alcohol and behave in an orderly manner but it is not the same now. He said people who misbehave must leave the city and return back to where they came from.
Police Minister Peter Tsiamalili also during his speech talked about the difference between Law and order and who is responsible to enforce them. He said police are doing fine in enforcing the law in the country but each family unit and the individual had failed their part to enforce order in their respective homes and that is why the country is facing a lot of law and order problem.
He said when there is now order in each houses that is when there will be more law and order problems because many people are breaking the laws and people will find it hard to enforce the law at one time. He he said when the family or a community is in order there will be less law breakers and there will be less job for the police.
Minister Tsiamalili while thanking Moresby North East MP John Kaupa for the much needed infrastructure said the police department will work closely with him to fight law and order problem in his electorate.
Commander NCD and Central Provinces acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Turi who was there to welcome and witnessed the opening of the police station thanked Moresby North East MP and the government for their support in building the police station. He said this will now help the people living in the Moresby North East area to bring their complains to the police station to seek police service.
He said a new police station commander had been appointed he will resume duty as soon as possible to make sure the people are served with the police serve around that area. He said the Police Station Commander is Inspector Leonard Wai.
