Two teachers from Iarowari High School in Central Province have been arrested and are currently detained at the 15 Mile Police Station to be investigated for an incident that took place last night, resulting in damage to the windscreen of a Sogeri Police Station vehicle.
Central Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector Joseph Salle confirmed that, according to police reports, the teachers had some internal issues among themselves during the day on Monday (March 09, 2026). One of the teachers, who was unhappy with the senior officers of the school, had an argument with one of them, who was later supported by his relatives. This led to a fight with the senior teacher. He stated that it was alleged the teacher had a fight inside the school, prompting the police to respond and investigate the matter. He also mentioned that on their way to the school, missiles were thrown at the police vehicle, damaging the front windscreen.
PPC Salle said police units were advised and responded, which led to the apprehension of the teachers. He mentioned that outsiders who took advantage of the fight also entered the school to attack the students, but a quick response from the police stopped everything. He stated that the situation at the school was tense, but police units maintained a presence to ensure the students were all safe.
He noted that the police had launched an investigation into what really happened, and those involved would be arrested and charged accordingly. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the individuals who damaged the police vehicle, which was responding to the situation to help ensure that no one got hurt, as the fight occurred in the evening and it was getting dark.
PPC Salle said he was pleased with how the police units from the Special Services Division, the NCD Police Units, and other operational units, as well as the Central police officers, responded within minutes to ensure that the students were all safe. He mentioned that it was getting dark when the incident occurred, but the police presence at the school premises calmed everything down, and the police are now investigating the matter.
He stated that there are more suspects involved in the incident, and the police are working closely with possible witnesses to ensure that all are arrested and charged accordingly.
