Despite the limited resources available to effectively maintain peace and good order during the 2025 LLG election, Madang police continue to provide security to ensure a successful conclusion of the entire election process.
Madang Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Baim said that hisnofficer’s unweavering support towards the 2025, Local Level Government election is good with police officers commitment and dedication.
PPC Baim further extends his gratitude to all hard-working policemen and policemen throughout Madang Province, stressing their unwavering commitment to service, even in the face of limited resources, demonstrates the true spirit of unity and dedication that keeps our communities safe.
“Your professionalism has ensured a peaceful election despite resource constraints. Your professionalism has ensured that the council elections were conducted with discipline and integrity.” PPC Baim said.
Superintendent Baim further added that daily situational reports from all districts indicate peaceful environments and a respectful, compliant approach to the electoral process by the people.
He said several LLGs in the districts have made declarations without any major incidents, reflecting a shared commitment to peaceful elections.
He elaborates that all election- related matters are the responsibility of the Electoral Commission of which police only provide support to ensure processes are adhered to, lawful, and secure, enabling the Electoral Commission to operate effectively.
Superintendent Baim, meanwhile; calls on the Electoral Commission to ensure stronger security collaboration in future elections.
“I am calling on the Electoral Commission to recognise and request the appropriate security support when needed. Security forces are available not to overpower the process but to safeguard voters, officials, and the integrity of the election. Mutual collaboration between law enforcement and the Electoral Commission is essential to a safe and orderly electoral environment,
” says PPC Baim.
He further added that all parties must start preparing for the National Election in 2027 and not wait until the last minute to plan and secure funding.
PPC Baim emphasises, “Proactive planning, preparation, and readiness are critical to delivering a better, stronger, and fair election in 2027, and I urge all stakeholders to begin coordinated preparations now, ensuring that logistical, security, and administrative needs are anticipated and resourced.”
