PPC MADANG ADVISES PUBLIC TO CELEBRATE EASTER WEEK SAFELY

MADANG Provincial Police Command has advised the public that Police “Special Easter Operations” will officially commence on Thursday afternoon, 2nd April and conclude on Tuesday morning, 7th April 2026. 

Madang Provincial Police Commander (PPC), acting Superintendent Robert Baim said respect the Holy weekend as this is a sacred Christian period. He said all individuals, families, and communities must respect its spiritual importance by maintaining peace, dignity, and discipline.

PPC Baim strictly warned the public for no unnecessary drinking, selling or consumption of homebrew or alcohol. He also said that no loud music or activities causing noise pollution and disorderly behaviour as well as fighting orcausing public disturbances. 

PPC said the police operations would be in effect to ensure roadblocks and highway patrols. He said police would also conduct the settlement foot beat patrols, random checks on suspicious individuals and groups as well as monitoring of known hotspots areas within the province. 

Mr Baim said anyone found breaking the law would be arrested and prosecuted.

“All police Community Policing Units (CPU) members are directed to maintain community peace and good order within your respective zones and wards within your Local Level Governments (LLGs). Your active presence is crucial to ensuring safety and harmony throughout the Easter period.

“All vehicle drivers must obey all traffic rules, avoid drunk driving, and cooperate fully with police at checkpoints,” PPC Baim said. 

PPC Baim called on all church leaders, community leaders, parents, and youths to work together with police to ensure a peaceful and respectful Easter is celebrated in the province. 

PPC wants everyone to honour this Holy Week with respect, peace, and unity. He said obey the law and celebrate the Easter safely.
