THE ROYAL PAPUA NEW GUINEA Constabulary (RPNGC) will be amongst the public servants across the country to observe the National Women’s Day celebration tomorrow (Monday 24th March, 2025).
The Commander of NCD and Central Provinces Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, Benjamin Turi, said more than 200 female members of the RPNGC will be participating in a parade at the Independence Boulevard cross at Waigani, Port Moresby.
“This significant event will see all sworn and unsworn female members participate in a parade at the Independence Boulevard cross as early as 6am. There will be a minute silence in remembrance of those who have passed on, and resigned, then the release of 200 balloons to observe the day,” he said.
Commander Turi is urging all motorist and the general public in the National Capital District and Central province to take alternative routes to allow the female members of the RPNGC to observe this important day from 6am onwards.
He said this is the first of its kind for the constabulary to see all female members come together to celebrate and honour all women in the force.
The National Women’s Day is observed to commemorate the International Women’s Day which falls on March 8th annually to celebrate women’s achievements and promote gender equality with this year’s theme: “Accelerate Action.”
Commander Turi commended the organising committee for their efforts in bringing all the women in the RPNGC together to celebrate women everywhere.
“Let us all come together and celebrate the incredible strength, courage and brilliance of women everywhere. From breaking barriers to inspiring change, every woman is a powerhouse of resilience and grace.
Let us honour their achievements, continue to support their work and help them be a light in the lives of those they touch in their work places, home and the society they live in.
