ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED & CHARGED FOR BEING IN POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA DRUGS

A male suspect from Hela Province was arrested and charged under Sections 3 (1) of the Dangerous Drug Act (DDA) for being in possession of Dangerous Drugs.

North Fly acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Inspector, Anjap Minata confirmed that his court files were in progress, and he would appear before the Tabubil District Court. He said the drugs valued at around K70,000.00 to K80,000.00 at the street value.

PPC Minata said the suspect was arrested after the police were alerted by an informant to check the MAF that arrived at Kiunga Airport in the Western province from Hela province.

He said upon receiving the intel, the police drove to the airport and arrested the 48-year-old suspect from Kubari village in the Tari Pori District, Hela province.

Inspector Minata said the police transported the suspect and his bags containing marijuana drugs to the Kiunga police station where he was further questioned.

The suspect admitted that the drugs belonged to him. He further stated that he had been doing this illegal business for some time, but unfortunately that day was not a day for him.

“The police are now appealing to the public, especially those people who are engaged in the drug trading activities to refrain from selling it as your days are numbered and you will still be caught one day.

“This message also goes to those people who are engaged in drugs businesses that police have already established network and you are now on the target,” PPC Minata said.

PPC said the North Fly Command and Western province is not their place to do drug business and he warned them to quit it or they would face the full force of the law.
