MADANG POLICE BOSS ISSUES STRICT BAN ON SCHOOL CLOSING TRIPS TO ISLANDS AND COASTLINES

Madang Provincial Police Commander, acting Superintendent Robert Baim and the members of the Madang Police Command issued a strict ban on school closing trips to Islands and Coastline.

PPC Baim said the Grade 12 examinations concluded last Friday, 17th October 2025, and the Grade eight (8) examinations commence today Monday 20th October and concludes on Friday, 24th October 2025. He said this warning applies throughout this entire period as students complete their final school programs and begin closing activities.

Superintendent Baim said following the tragic Pik Island incident, his office has declared a TOTAL BAN on all school closing picnics, excursions, and gatherings at islands, atolls, and coastal areas.

“All school closing ceremonies must be held strictly within school premises under the close supervision of parents, guardians, and teachers. No student groups are allowed to walk around or travel unsupervised.

“Be advised that police patrols will be monitoring all coastlines, beaches, and islands throughout this period. Any school, teacher, or student found breaching this directive will face serious consequences,” PPC Baim said.

PPC also urged the public to report immediately to the nearest police station or patrol officers any individual, group, or school not complying with this directive. He said cooperation from everyone is needed to ensure safety of students and the protection of public order is maintained in the province.

PPC Baim said the warning was issued in the interest of student safety and community well-being. He said all schools and the public are urged to take this directive seriously and act responsibly.
