POLICE LAUNCH NIGHT FOOT PATROLS IN HANUABADA VILLAGE

In a proactive effort to enhance community safety, police from the Metropolitan Command have joined forces with the Hanuabada Community Wardens Initiative to bolster police visibility throughout Hanuabada village.

National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab who was pleased with police officers based at Vision City who were deployed, facilitating a foot patrol that allowed officers to engage directly with residents and assess community concerns during the weekend said more of such must be done.

He said their presence at Hanuabada was to make awareness on lawa and order and also show police presence in the village.
He said according to police officers the presence of law enforcement on the streets during the night was welcomed by the village elders and community members, who expressed their gratitude for the added security apart from their community wardens.

He said that is real community policing and the Poreporena villagers must work with the police.

“During the patrol, officers interacted with locals along Boe Vagi Road, fostering a sense of trust and cooperation. Notably, Warden Leader Maya Lohia, who spearheads this vital initiative, was present, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the police and the community. Her leadership has been instrumental in bridging the gap between residents and law enforcement.

Metsupt Simatab had also shown strong support to the initiative and supported the move by the officers to the village to maintain police presence in the village.

He said police management in the command under the leadership of Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Turi plus the political leaders had met with the people and agreed for police to resume duties there and with such initiatives by the police officers show a good start. He encouraged the police officers from Motu Koita and NCD to show presence in the village and help assit the community wardens.
