Port Moresby hosts Rugby League World Cup matches this Saturday, 17 October 2026, when PNG plays Lebanon in the men’s tournament and PNG plays France in the women’s tournament at the Santos National Football Stadium.
“The eyes of the rugby league world will be on Port Moresby,” the Metropolitan Superintendent said. “Police will be out in full force and on full alert. We will not tolerate anyone who wants to disturb the peace in our city.”
“I appeal to everyone to come out to the games and support our teams. Support Lebanon and France as well. Our visitors are our guests, and I want every one of them to experience the true Melanesian welcome.” “Let us show the world that Port Moresby is a proud, peaceful, and welcoming host city,” the Metropolitan Superintendent said.
