HIRI-KOIARI DDA DONATES FOURTH VEHICLE TO POLICE IN CENTRAL

Central Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Joseph Salle, was pleased to see that the Hiri-Koiari District Development Authority has been very helpful to police in the province. Speaking at the presentation of a new police vehicle to the Biura Police Post last week, PPC Salle thanked Hiri-Koiari District Development Authority Chairman, Keith Idihu, and his team for their continuous support to the police, noting that they have so far donated four vehicles to police stations in the district.

PPC Salle said Laloki, Sogeri, and 15 Mile police stations had previously received police vehicles from the DDA, which are currently serving the people in the district. He said Hiri-Koiari is a large district and mobility is a problem, which is why the DDA saw the need to provide these vehicles.

He stated that two of the other vehicles are operational, while the vehicle donated to Laloki is still in the workshop. He added that the additional vehicle donated to the Biura Police Post will now serve the people of Hiri West, which covers the Motuan coastline from Manumanu to Papa-Lealea villages.

He also challenged the police officers who will be using the vehicles to use them wisely.

“Hiri-Koiari District is leading in purchasing police vehicles in Cenrral province, with four vehicles given to the police so far. Kairuku District is another district that is also very supportive of the police, having purchased vehicles for the Doa and Bereina police who are also serving the people there. We, the police, need support from leaders to serve the people whom we are all supposed to serve. I want to thank those MPs and their DDAs for their efforts in supporting the police,” Salle said.

Community leaders from Papa-Lealea and surrounding villages were pleased to witness the presentation of the police vehicle, which will now assist them when there is trouble in the villages.
